In the garden of your guest house, each period of the year brings its wealth.

The blackberry season ends with autumn. We have gathered important quantities carefully preserved for the manufacture of future desserts and jams to find at breakfast.

The raspberries, after the many rains of this month of September, are still well stocked and the picking is carried out every 2 days.

The 2 large walnut trees also offer us large quantities of nuts, we collect them and let them dry for
a few weeks . I use walnuts in many ways: apple and nut cakes, pancake toppings or
patties, in favor of salads or to give crunchy salty cakes.

The apple trees of the garden

The garden apples are ready to be picked, too, in September - October. Normandy is one of the regions where the apple is undoubtedly the fruit best exploited. There are many varieties of apples that are harvested
September to November. The apple is probably the fruit that is consumed in many ways: Naturally in a  dessert or to calm a little hunger, in the form of compotes, pies, apple juice, aperitif, without forgetting cider and Calvados.

In the garden of the guest house "Les Bruyères du Mont", 2 apple trees planted on our arrival in 2002, give us each year a significant amount of apples that we pick and store with the utmost care.

The first apple tree provides us with apples of the variety "Elstar": apple slightly acidic with melting flesh and Juicy, it is tasted at dessert but it is also excellent in the form of compote.

The fruit of the second apple tree matures a few weeks later: variety "Cox Orange" with crisp flesh
and firmer, delicious naturally and perfect for making tasty Norman pies.
