Do you like ... bike rides?
No problem ! The region offers many routes or greenways for cyclists, for example the old railway line restored in Ducey.
And how not to mention the extraordinary circuit of Veloscenie, a continuous and specially marked route to connect Paris to the bay of Mont Saint-Michel via Chartres and Normandy. This exceptional course crosses the Chevreuse Valley, the hills of the Perche and Maine and the Norman grove, before reaching the marvel of wonders!
The course is open to different levels of difficulty with long sections of greenways connected by quiet roads. With its unforgettable sites, it is certainly one of the most beautiful bike rides. With the itinerary of La Véloscénie, discover the history of France, illustrated by its most beautiful monuments.
Do you prefer walking?
Then there you will be spoiled! No less than three hiking trails cross the region: the GR 22 which comes from Paris, the GR 223 which goes around the Channel and a small end of the GR 34 which winds towards Brittany.
With the GR22, embark on the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims who have followed this legendary route that goes from the forecourt of the Notre-Dame cathedral to the famous Mont Saint-Michel abbey.
The GR 223 or "Customs footpath" allows for beautiful walks along the coastline, and was once used by customs to fight against smuggling. Whether you are an experienced walker or a novice walker, this trail will seduce you with the diversity and beauty of the landscape.
This is without counting of course on the countless pedestrian routes and trails that the region offers you, whether on the coast or more inland.
Or horseback riding?
The horse occupies a very important place in Normandy. There are many equestrian clubs and hiking trails specially designed for riders (equestrian loops, dedicated courses), such as the route of the abbeys on horseback. Embark for gallopades on the beach, beautiful walks between forest, countryside and beach, or pony baptisms for children.
Those who love our equine friends will not miss a visit to Saint-Lô, the capital of horse's, and visit the national stud farm.
And then water sports?
Between the Channel and the rivers of the Bay, the places are not lacking for the nautical activities!
Aboard a canoe or kayak, sail on the rivers and discover in the gentle lapping of the waves a secret and charming hinterland: fortified abbeys, ancient mills and bridges millennia, mossy forests and flowery villages ... The waterways of Sée, Sélune or Couesnon reserve your beautiful walks!
Are you a water enthusiast, enjoy the sound of the sea and spray? In this case, make your choice and experiment, according to your desires, the following activities: sea kayaking, catamaran, windsurfing, paddle, motor boat or sailboat rental, sand yachting, surfing ...
To discover the coast and the sea, why not try the long-coast, coastal walks? Or diving to discover the hidden riches of the sea? By the way, the shoreline of the bay is also conducive to fishing on foot!
