
The remarkable trees in the South Manche
Discovering rare trees.
"Remarkable trees" is the name of 2 labels, one issued by the association of TREES: Remarkable trees of France, the other issued by the council of architecture, urban planning and the environment of the Channel. The National label distinguishes trees are exceptional by the "rarity of the species, the port, the integration in nature, the exceptional character in the region, in its purpose of protection and research.
Around Avranches, the remarkable trees are the chestnut trees of Carolles, the sequoia of Lolif, the plane tree of St Pair on Sea, the silver willow at Val St Père, the bald cypress of Louisane at Val St Père ... At the Jardin des Plantes d'Avranches, You will be able to admire some extraordinary ancient trees such as Ginko bilboa and Fortune Cephalotaxus.
The Council for Architecture, Town Planning and the Environment of the Channel has labeled 48 tree specimens and awarded a special mention to 24 others. These trees, of local essences or coming from 4 corners of the world are remarkable by their age, their size, their botanical rarity: they form our living environment and contribute to the valorization of the department of the
Handle.
